Make Music

Offbeat is a virtual reality sandbox for musicians, loaded with traditional and makeshift instruments for hours of rhythmic possibilities.

Each object is assigned a unique (and often unexpected) sound. What will you hear next?

Make Noise

You can construct a standard rock drum kit or an assembly of Boxes, food, furniture, traffic barriers, and more.

With a good pair of headphones, Roommates and Neighbors will be grateful you chose this game over the electric kit.

Make a Mess

OFfbeat features 5 unique environments filled to the brim with potential instruments.

Throw instruments around with easier cleanup than a rage room.

How it started…

Offbeat began as an independent study in VR Game Development.

My goals were to learn (1) how to track objects in VR, (2) how to detect and respond to collisions in games, and (3) How to create game environments.

Using free Assets from Unity’s Asset Store, I slowly built a library of instruments and had my proof-of-concept. After a couple cycles of user-testing, surveying, analyzing data, and Implementing Improvements, I had a product that was ready to go to market.

Thanks to Dr Hayes and Prof Fowler for approving the project, 3r Interactive for sponsoring it, The Fortitude Fund and 212 Program for mentoring and advising me through it.
